What's actually possible

Screen and battery replacement are both realistic, on most models, done carefully with the right tools to release the adhesive without cracking anything further. Charging port issues are usually fixable the same way as any laptop. Board-level faults are the limiting case, the tightly integrated design leaves little room for the kind of component-level repair that's possible on a more traditionally built laptop.

Why it costs more than a typical laptop repair

The adhesive construction that makes a Surface thin also makes it slower to open safely, and that labour time is reflected in the quote. We'll always give you a real number before starting, and tell you plainly if a particular repair isn't one we can do.

Common questions

Why are Surface devices harder to repair than a normal laptop?

The screen is bonded directly to the chassis with adhesive rather than held on with screws, which is great for a thin, light design and much harder to open without risking further damage.

Can you replace a Surface screen?

In many cases, yes, though it takes longer and costs more than a normal laptop screen because of the adhesive construction. We'll quote it honestly once we've seen the specific model.

What about the battery?

Also glued in on most models, and accessible with care. Same story as the screen, more labour than a normal laptop, reflected in the cost.

Is there anything you genuinely can't do on a Surface?

Board-level repairs are limited by the tightly integrated design. Where that's the case, we'll tell you honestly rather than take a job we can't actually finish.
