Most people call us once something has already gone wrong. A tune-up is the opposite, a scheduled check-over that catches the small things, a nearly-full drive, months of accumulated startup clutter, an out-of-date system, before they turn into the kind of problem that ends up on our slow computer page.

What's actually involved

Clearing out temporary files and leftover installer junk that builds up over months of normal use. Reviewing what's set to launch automatically when you turn the computer on, since a lot of software adds itself to that list without asking. A full malware scan, even with nothing obviously wrong, since some infections are built to stay quiet. Checking for pending Windows and driver updates that have been sitting unapplied. And a general look at drive space and battery health, so you know about a problem before it becomes an emergency.

How it works

  1. Book a session

Remote, same as any other remote support appointment.

  2. We work through the checklist

Cleanup, scan, updates, and a check of drive and battery health.

  3. You get a plain-language summary

What we found, what we fixed, and anything worth keeping an eye on.

What it costs

$150 per hour. A full tune-up is usually one to two billable hours, depending on how much has built up.

Common questions

How is this different from calling about a slow computer?

A slow computer repair is reactive, something is already wrong and we're fixing it. A tune-up is preventive, done before anything's obviously broken, to catch small problems early and keep the machine running the way it should.

How often should I get one done?

Once or twice a year is reasonable for most people. More often if you install a lot of software, or if it's a shared family computer that gets used heavily.

Will you delete anything I need?

No. We remove unnecessary startup clutter and old temporary files, never personal documents, photos, or anything you'd notice was gone.

Is this worth doing on an older computer?

Often, yes, a tune-up gets more out of ageing hardware than people expect. If the machine genuinely needs a hardware upgrade instead, we'll tell you that rather than just running a cleanup that won't help much.
